Frequently asked questions
- Does the character counter count spaces?
- It shows both totals side by side: characters with spaces and characters without spaces. Use "with spaces" for Twitter/X and SMS limits, and "without spaces" for some academic word limits.
- Is my text sent to a server?
- No. Every count is calculated by JavaScript running in your own browser. Your text never leaves your device and nothing is logged.
- How does it count sentences and paragraphs?
- Sentences are counted by splitting on period, question mark, and exclamation mark. Paragraphs are blocks separated by a blank line. This matches how most writing guides and word processors count.
- Will it work on mobile?
- Yes. The counter is responsive and works on any modern mobile browser. You can paste from iOS and Android as normal.
